We can offer you the chance to earn a great salary whilst you learn new skills, gain valuable work experience and obtain industry-recognised qualifications. The programme can take up to 4 years to complete and is centred on work-based learning, formal education and training linked directly to the job. By the end of the programme you'll have an accreditation that will offer you the opportunity to build a rewarding and successful career in the energy sector with one of the largest suppliers in the UK and Ireland. Sustainability underpins everything we do so we believe in making the most of our most valuable assets - our people - and supporting them to be their best. Throughout the programme, you'll be well supported with a SSE dedicated manager and mentor, and will work alongside our experienced colleagues to quickly build up your experience on the job. During your time at college, you'll have support from college tutors and in some cases may be able to accelerate your learning at a faster pace than our other programmes. The majority of our learners attend college on a block release arrangement for several weeks at any one time; this will mean you may have to live away from home for short periods of time. What do I need? First and foremost is a passion for SSE, an appreciation of our core values, and the desire to take on a new challenge. You should also bring with you experience of working in a practical / hands on environment, a good level of dexterity and understanding of the importance of safety in a work-based setting. You should enjoy working outdoors and be prepared to work in all weather conditions. In terms of qualifications, wed love you to have GCSE (or equivalent) level C in Maths and English and a Science / Engineering / Technical subject. You may have equivalent technical qualifications or other work-based qualifications which are not essential but would be advantageous, and may help you progress more quickly through the programme. Due to the locations of the roles on offer, a full driving license is essential. Application closing date: 21st July 2019 Successful candidates will start in September 2019 and will be subject to our verification and vetting process which includes a qualification and basic criminal record check along with drug and alcohol testing.
