The visit is part of the annual WES Lottie Tour, an annual initiative that sees ‘Lottie’ – a doll designed to empower and inspire – visit a range of female engineers across with country. Lottie was welcomed at Kent Enviropower by FCC Environment, Performance Team Leader, Mar Martinez Casas, who commented: “It is fantastic to host Lottie at Kent Enviropower. At FCC Environment we are keen to highlight the different careers that are available and inspire more women to enter the profession.

“Research has shown that the UK has the lowest proportion of female engineers in Europe, and the waste and recycling industry is particularly male dominated – just 15.8 per cent of the workforce is female and these roles are mainly in services or administration[1].”
